Because viruses will often continue to send copies of itself using your email account, and could possibly cause permanent damage to your machine, it's important to take care of it as soon as possible.
1.) If you have an anti-virus program, this may be your first line of defense. However, you must make sure your virus 'definitions' are the most up-to-date by visiting your vendor's website and downloading the newest update available.
2.) If you do not have anti-virus software, or for some reason the software you have cannot be updated, there are several free online resources available:
Symantec's Anti-Virus Center. Often times, they will post downloadable 'removal tools' for common viruses. Remember that this will only remove the current infection and will not prevent future infections)
PC-cilin Online Virus Scan They offer a free online virus scan.
AGV Free Anti-Virus Free, downloadable anti-virus program.
3.) Outside Help.
You may need to seek the assistance of an outside source for help cleaning a virus infection. There are several local computer companies which would be able to help you with this. While we do not provide this service, we can refer you to other businesses or individuals which have experience with virus removal.
