  • I found this recipe in my recipe box. It looks like My Mother's hand writing. My Mother and two paternal Grand Parents all made different Sauce and Meat balls and So do I, but for what its worth here it is as I hate to loose it.

  • (SAUCE)
  • 1 - Large can Tomato Puree
  • 1 to 2 Medium Cans Tomato Sauce ( think she means Tomato past here.
  • Garlic Salt to taste
  • Onion Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2 to 3 whole bay leafs
  • Celery Salt (optional)
  • 1 to 2 TBLS Sugar
  • Green Pepper chopped (Optional)
  • 1 to 2 TBLS Oregano
  • 1 to 2 TBLS Thyme

  • (MEATBALLS)
  • 2 #'s Hamburger
  • 1 cup Soda Crackers (crumbled) I imagine you an use 1 cup of bread crumbs!
  • 2 eggs (beat slightly with fork
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • Parsley Flakes to taste
  • Salt to Taste
  • Pepper to Taste
  • Parmesan Cheese (she does not say how much but I would guess about 1/4 cup)

  • Steps:
  • 1. Put all Sauce Ingredients in large pot and cook 2-3 hours stirring all the time. Add some water if necessary.
  • 2. Mix MeatBall Ingredients and Roll and shape into balls. Bake at 325 for 1/2 hour and then finish cooking in sauce for 2 hours. The baking seals the outside. One could also do this with hot oil in a frying pan.
  • 3. When all done serve with your favorite Pasta and Garlic Bread.
