Indian Fried Bread

  • 4 cups flour
  • 3 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp non-fat dry milk
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp shortening
  • 2 cups warm water
  • Steps:
  • Sift all dry ingredients, mix in shortening.
  • Gradually add warm water.
  • Mix and knead until dough is soft enough to handle.
  • Let dough rise, then mold into balls.
  • (Golf ball size).
  • Flatten with hands, make hole in center and fry in deep fat.
  • Brown on one side and turn.
